- The
Trust will never buy a donkey or mule.
- An
agreement
is signed with the adoptee and if the
animal can no longer be kept or no longer wanted it is surrendered back
to the Trust.
- An
adoption fee is paid when an adoptee takes charge of a Trust
animal. An agreement is signed with conditions that the
adoptee must agree to.
- The welfare of the
donkey/mule is the
most important factor.
- The adoption home must have
an equine
companion animal for the donkey/mule.
- No
donkey/mule is ever
placed on its own without a companion.
- The adoptee
must have
experience with equines or have undergone some approved training.
- The
Trust will have access to its donkeys/mules at all times.
- All
Trust animals not already branded will be branded.
- Two
Trustees must approve the release of a Trust donkey/mule before it is
given into Foster Care. This request for release is to be circulated to
the Trustees who must give the final approval. Only then can
the donkey/mule be handed over.
- The Trust will not
seek to set
up sanctuaries. It believes the animals are better in
individual care and not institutionalized. Where possible the
animals will be rehomed.
- In addition to Foster carers providing the Trust with a a written
annual report and photo, all Trust donkeys are to have an annual
inspection by either a Trustee or Trust Representative.
